Experience a cozy winter getaway at Ste Anne Spa in Ontario. From their signature facial to gourmet meals and Petit Pont Guest House, here’s my full of Winter at Ste Anne Spa.
The first time I visited Ste. Anne Spa, it was early fall. The trees were glowing in shades of gold and rust, the air was crisp, and everything felt quietly magical. So when I found myself heading back for a second visit in the middle of winter, I expected something similar. Peaceful. Cozy. Restful.
What I didn’t expect was to arrive right in the middle of a snowstorm.
Snow was falling in thick, steady waves, softening the roads, the trees, and everything in sight. The world felt muted and distant, as if I had stepped into a snow globe. By the time I pulled in, wrapped in layers and already dreaming of a warm robe, I knew this visit was going to be completely different from my first.
And honestly? It made the experience even more special.
This winter getaway became less about wandering outdoors and more about sinking into warmth, quiet, and comfort. From indulgent treatments to nourishing meals and a cozy stay nearby, this trip felt like the reset I didn’t know I needed. Here’s what my winter day at Ste. Anne Spa was really like.

Where Is Ste. Anne Spa (and Why It’s So Easy to Get To)?
Located in the small town of Grafton, just outside Cobourg, Ste. Anne Spa is one of those rare places that feels completely removed from everyday life… while still being incredibly easy to reach. It sits just minutes off Highway 401, making it a convenient drive from Toronto, Kingston, or Ottawa. No winding backroads. No complicated detours. One minute you’re cruising down the highway, and the next, you’re turning into a peaceful countryside retreat.
That contrast is part of the magic.
As soon as you leave the highway behind, the landscape opens up into quiet fields, trees, and wide skies. The noise fades. Your shoulders drop. And you can almost feel your pace slowing before you’ve even parked the car. In warmer months, the surrounding countryside feels bright and open. In winter, especially during a snowfall, it becomes wonderfully still and secluded, giving the spa an almost tucked-away, secret feel. It’s close enough for a spontaneous day trip, yet far enough to feel like a true escape.
If you’re looking for a luxury spa experience in Ontario without committing to a long road trip, Ste. Anne Spa’s location is honestly hard to beat.

Why Ste. Anne Spa Is Perfect in Winter
There’s something about visiting a spa in winter that just hits differently. When everything outside feels busy, cold, and grey, stepping into a warm, quiet, beautifully designed space feels like an instant reset. And Ste. Anne Spa does winter wellness especially well.
During the colder months, the entire experience feels slower and more intentional. You’re not rushing between activities or trying to squeeze in outdoor plans. Instead, the focus shifts to rest, warmth, and genuinely taking care of yourself. Long walks become optional. Lingering in a robe becomes the main event. With snow covering the grounds, the spa feels even more secluded and peaceful. The world outside gets quieter, and that calm carries into every part of your visit, from the relaxation areas to the treatment rooms. It’s the kind of place where you forget about emails, deadlines, and notifications without even trying.
Winter also makes you appreciate the little comforts more. Warm pools. Cozy lounges. Hot tea between treatments. Soft blankets. Fires crackling in the background. Everything feels designed to help you unwind fully, especially when it’s freezing outside. For me, visiting in winter felt less like a getaway and more like a true pause. A chance to rest deeply, reset mentally, and come home feeling lighter than when I arrived. If you’ve ever thought about doing a spa escape in Ontario, winter might honestly be the best time to do it.

What to Do at Ste. Anne Spa: Pools, Treatments, Classes & Dining
One of the things I love most about Ste. Anne Spa is that you can be as active or as relaxed as you want. Some people arrive with a full schedule. Others spend the entire day in a robe, moving only between pools, lounges, and meals. Both approaches are equally valid here.
The Pools: Warm, Quiet, and Perfect in Winter
The pools are one of the highlights, especially during colder months. Stepping into warm water while snow falls around you feels incredibly soothing. It’s one of those simple pleasures that instantly makes you slow down and be present.
Whether you’re floating, stretching, or just sitting quietly, the pool areas are designed for calm rather than crowds. In winter, they feel even more peaceful, almost like a hidden sanctuary away from the rest of the world.

The Treatments: A True Reset for Body and Mind
Treatments are at the heart of the Ste. Anne experience, and they’re worth building your day around. From massages to facials and body treatments, everything is designed to help you fully unwind.
I opted for their signature facial, and it felt less like a “beauty treatment” and more like an hour of deep rest. The atmosphere, the care, and the attention to detail made it feel genuinely restorative. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t generic. It felt personal and thoughtful.
If you’re visiting for the first time, I highly recommend booking at least one treatment in advance. It really elevates the entire experience.
The Classes: Gentle Movement and Mindfulness
If you’re in the mood to move a little, Ste. Anne also offers wellness classes like yoga, stretching, and meditation sessions. These are perfect if you want to start your day mindfully or gently loosen up between treatments.
What I appreciate is that these classes aren’t intense or intimidating. They’re accessible, calming, and focused on feeling good rather than pushing yourself. Even if you don’t usually take wellness classes, this is a great place to try.
The Restaurant: Nourishing, Comforting, and Surprisingly Good
Meals at Ste. Anne Spa are included in your stay, and they’re a big part of the experience. The food is fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared, with a focus on nourishing ingredients that still feel satisfying.
In winter, it’s especially comforting to sit down to a warm, beautifully presented meal after spending time in the pools or treatment rooms. Everything feels intentional, from the pace of service to the atmosphere in the dining room.
It’s wellness-focused without feeling restrictive, which I really appreciated. You leave feeling nourished, not deprived.

Winter at Ste Anne Spa : What It Will Look Like
If you’ve never been to Ste. Anne Spa before, it can be hard to picture what a full day actually looks like. Do you stay in your robe all day? Do you book back-to-back treatments? Do you need a strict schedule?
The answer is: a little bit of everything, at your own pace.
Here’s what a cozy winter day at Ste. Anne Spa looked like for me.
9:00 AM – Arrival & Slipping Into Spa Mode
Arriving in winter feels extra special, especially when everything is covered in snow. After checking in, you’re given your robe and shown where to change. From that moment on, real life kind of disappears. Phones go away. Coats stay behind. And suddenly, you’re walking around in slippers with a coffee in hand, wondering why you don’t live like this all the time. If you arrive early enough, you can also start your day with breakfast or a gentle morning class, which is a lovely way to ease into spa mode.
10:00 AM – Morning Pool Time
Before my treatment, I headed to the pools to warm up and ease into the day. Floating in warm water while snow fell quietly around me was easily one of the highlights of the entire visit. It’s peaceful. It’s grounding. And it instantly puts you in relaxation mode.
11:30 AM – Signature Facial Treatment
Late morning was reserved for my signature facial, which ended up being one of my favourite parts of the day. The treatment room was calm and softly lit, and the entire experience felt unhurried and restorative. It wasn’t just about skincare. It was about slowing down, breathing deeply, and letting someone else take care of you for a while.
1:00 PM – Lunch & Lingering Conversations
After my treatment, it was time for lunch in the dining room. Meals at Ste. Anne are meant to be enjoyed slowly, and winter makes that even easier. Warm food, big windows, snowy views, and no reason to rush anywhere. It’s the kind of lunch that turns into an hour without you even noticing.
2:30 PM – Rest, Read, Repeat (or Add a Little Structure)
The afternoon was all about doing… very little. Some time in a quiet lounge with a book. Another dip in the pools. Tea breaks. A short walk outside to breathe in the crisp air. Then straight back into warmth.
If you prefer a bit more structure, this is also a great time to join a wellness class, book another treatment, or enjoy afternoon tea. It’s easy to customize your day depending on how relaxed or full you want it to be.
5:30 PM – Dinner & Evening Wind-Down
Dinner feels like a natural transition into evening. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, and everyone seems to be floating on the same calm wavelength. Afterward, it was back to the pools and relaxation areas for one last unwind before heading out. In winter, evenings feel especially quiet and peaceful, making it the perfect way to close the day.
7:30 PM – Heading Back Refreshed
By the time I changed back into my regular clothes, I felt completely reset. Not rushed. Not overstimulated. Just calm, rested, and ready to face winter again. A day at Ste. Anne Spa isn’t about packing in as much as possible. It’s about creating space to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with yourself. And in winter, that experience feels even more meaningful.

Staying at Petit Pont Guest House : A Natural Extension of Your Spa Experience
If you’re turning your spa day into a full winter escape, staying overnight nearby makes the experience feel even more complete. For this trip, I stayed at Petit Pont Guest House, a charming and intimate guest house located just a few minutes from Ste. Anne Spa.
What makes Petit Pont especially special is that it’s not just “close to the spa”. It actually belongs to Ste. Anne, and you can really feel that connection the moment you walk in. Staying here feels like a continuation of your time at the spa, rather than a separate experience.
The calm, thoughtful atmosphere carries over beautifully. You’ll find the same elevated sense of comfort, attention to detail, and wellness-focused touches that make Ste. Anne so memorable. From the soft bedding to the peaceful setting, everything is designed to help you stay in relaxation mode a little longer. One of my favourite details was discovering the same beautiful products from the Ste. Anne Apothecary in the room. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a big difference. You’re still surrounded by the scents and textures you experienced during your treatments, which really helps extend that spa feeling into the evening. There’s also a lovely tea selection, perfect for winding down after a full day of pools, treatments, and meals. Making a warm cup of tea, curling up in a cozy room, and listening to the quiet winter night outside felt like the perfect way to end the day.
Petit Pont has a boutique, intimate feel that works especially well in winter. It’s peaceful, unpretentious, and wonderfully comforting. Instead of driving home right after dinner, you get to ease into the evening, sleep deeply, and wake up feeling refreshed rather than rushed.
If you’re debating between a day visit and an overnight stay, I’d honestly recommend staying at Petit Pont if you can. It transforms your spa visit into a true mini-retreat and lets you fully experience the slow, restorative rhythm that Ste. Anne does so well.

Final Thoughts: Winter at Ste Anne Spa
My winter escape to Ste. Anne Spa was very different from my first fall visit, but in many ways, it felt even more meaningful. Arriving in the middle of a snowstorm, slowing down in a quiet, winter landscape, and spending a full day focused on rest and wellbeing created a kind of pause that’s hard to find in everyday life.
From the warmth of the pools to the care behind each treatment, from nourishing meals to the comfort of staying at Petit Pont Guest House, every part of the experience felt thoughtful and intentional. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt overdone. It was simply designed to help you feel better, inside and out.
What I appreciated most was how easy it was to fully disconnect. No pressure to be productive. No schedule to chase. Just time to breathe, rest, and listen to what my body actually needed. In the middle of a long Canadian winter, that kind of reset is priceless. If you’ve been craving a break that goes beyond a typical weekend getaway, a winter visit to Ste. Anne Spa is something I can’t recommend enough. It’s close enough for an easy drive, yet far enough to feel like a true escape. And you’ll leave feeling lighter, calmer, and quietly re-energized.
Have you ever done a winter spa getaway in Ontario? Or is this something you’ve been thinking about trying? Let me know, I’d love to hear where you’re dreaming of unwinding next.

I’ll be honest, Peterborough wasn’t on my radar for a long time. It’s one of those places you drive past on your way to a cottage, always meaning to stop, never quite doing it. 🌿
Then I actually stopped.
And now I keep going back.
There’s something about this part of Ontario that feels like it hasn’t been packaged for tourists yet. A small city with a real downtown, surrounded by lakes and forests and history that goes back thousands of years.
Scroll through and I’ll show you exactly how I’d spend a first visit, from the first coffee of the morning to the sunset that completely blew me away!
Some of it will surprise you. Some of it will make you hungry. And at least one slide is going to make you say « wait, that exists in Ontario?! » 🙌
Save this before your next road trip north, you’re going to want it.

I’ve driven this loop more times than I can count and every single time I find something new to love about it.
It starts just outside Ottawa and winds through some of the most underrated corners of Eastern Ontario.
The thing about this road trip is that it doesn’t ask much of you. You don’t need to plan weeks in advance or drive for hours to feel like you’ve actually gotten away. You just need a long weekend, a full tank of gas, and a willingness to slow down.
I’ve been piecing this route together for years, adding stops, swapping others out, finding the spots that are worth the detour and the ones that aren’t. This is the version I keep coming back to. The one I send to friends when they ask where to go. The one that made me fall in love with Eastern Ontario all over again.
Every stop is in the reel. Save this and start planning.

Ottawa has this quiet superpower that most people overlook. Within two hours, you can be walking along a UNESCO canal, standing on a lookout over a lake, or eating the best pizza of your life on a patio beside a waterfall.
And yet somehow, most people spend their weekends doing the same thing in the city when all of this is sitting right outside their door.
Scroll through to see my list of nine day trips, all under two hours from Ottawa. One of them might end up becoming your new regular.

I almost didn’t go to Kincardine. It kept coming up in conversations; someone would mention it in passing, or I’d see a photo of that lighthouse at golden hour and think “I should go there sometime.” And then I’d forget about it and plan something else instead.
I finally went last Summer. And I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
There’s something about this town that’s hard to explain. It’s not trying to be anything other than what it is, a small lakeside town with Scottish roots, a lighthouse that’s been standing since 1880, beaches that face west so every single evening turns into something worth stopping for, and a community that genuinely seems to love where it lives.
The full guide is in the reel : where to start your morning, which lighthouse to visit, where to eat, where to stay, and the one sunset experience that I genuinely was not prepared for.
Kincardine is about two and a half hours from Toronto and one hour from Kitchener, so save this for your summer planning. 🔖

Ontario has a short summer. Like, genuinely short. And every year I watch September arrive and think about all the things I meant to do and didn’t.
So this year I’m doing things differently. I made a list.
It has hikes that will make you question whether you’re still in Canada. A tradition that has been going on since 1996 that most Ontarians have never witnessed. A beach that books up so fast it’ll make your head spin. A helicopter ride that changes the way you see this province. And a few experiences that are so specific to Ontario that you could only find them here.
All of them are worth making time for before the leaves turn and you’re back in your winter coat wondering where summer went.
Swipe through and be honest with yourself about how many you’ve actually done?
